Lobster builds in steel and aluminum and offers carbon fiber stays and forks. The high strength steels offer almost limitless life and a very agreeable ride. The lighter aluminum and Scandium alloys are for cutting edge racing machines that are durable for a few hard racing seasons and have superior stiffness at a lighter weight-they just don’t have the longevity of steel. Since most modern steels are designed for TIG welding this is the primary method of construction at Rock Lobster. Lugged and/or fillet brazed frames are available with special consideration to the materials. Air-hardened steels are not suitable for fillet brazing.
